Oh yeah, many times have I heard this noise. Easy diagnosis, just unplug the control wire to disable the alternator. Noise gone? Diodes bad. Still there? Bad bearing. I agree with another post I read though, after you've heard one it's pretty easy to distingui... Login to read more.
