Linux can do one thing that windows cannot. It can run from a live disc without installing it. If you were to use Lubuntu (lightweight ubuntu) 13.10, you can put it on a dinosaur of a machine and still blow the doors off a windows machine. Get a cheap old lapt... Login to read more.
