Windows XP 32 bit I am guessing?

Buy the ram, leave the processes alone, 56 isn't enough to bother with.

Buy all the ram you can, up to 4 gigs (2, 2 gig sticks, check the laptop specs) if the laptop will handle that much. Login to read more.
