You might try the help file on your Maxtor install floppy. My 10GB Maxtor came with a floppy that explains everything in detail. Apparently there are 3 BIOS barriers. 523MB, 4.3GB and 8.2GB. If your motherboard is old, chances are you are subject to one ... Login to read more.
