Jim,

The early Celeron 300's had NO L2 cache and were slow. The newer celeron 300A and all faster Celeron processors have 128k L2 cache "on-die" which runs at the same speed as the processor vs. the 512k L2 cache of the Pentium II which runs at 1/2 the speed... Login to read more.
