Compaq just quit on me!

My home PC, 2005 Compaq Presario sr1520nx, running XP SP2, won't start.

I shut it down normally and when I went to start up the next day all I get is the Compaq screen, and then it goes black and I get "Problem loading operating system_", taping F8 or F10 ha... Login to read more.
