Firefox problems - what came first, the chicken or the egg?

I recently updated my PC-Cillin to the latest 2009 PRO version. Not long beforehand (maybe 7 days?), Firefox had carried out an update.

My problem is as follows and I'm I think??? this was occurring before the PC-Cillan update:
