I have a few reasons for not using DVD's.

4.7gb of storage isn't all that much for me; RAW files are much larger then JPEG. I can fit about 180 images on a 2gb card so I wouldn't even get 500 on a DVD. It's not uncommon for file sizes to creep over 20mb each... Login to read more.
