As you have figured out, .pcx won't work in windows Pic and Fax viewer.

Irfanview is the hot ticket for these. I use it as my default image viewer as I am not a fan of the Windows P&F viewer. If you prefer the Windows P&F viewer, use Irfanview to open each .... Login to read more.
