Gary, I've seen this happen several times. You might have a "Boot sector" virus. Anti virus software will not detect a boot sector virus. You can use a "Write-protected" Windows 98 Boot floppy & reboot the machine to the floppy. Choose start without CD-Rom sup... Login to read more.
