ATG Schedule of Classes for July 2017
Posted to Industry Events Forum on 6/26/2017
Greetings, everyone!
The Automotive Training Group (ATG) has the following
classes available for the month of June 2017. All classes
run from 6:30 p.m. - 10:00 p.m. each night for both
evenings, except where indicated below.
6.0L, 6.4L & 6.7L POWERSTROKE ENGINE
PERFORMANCE: ATG's Engine Performance Training
series helps you choose the best tests that get you the most
information with the least effort. These strategies are even
more critical on Powerstroke engines because they are so
time-consuming to work on. This seminar contains
field-tested diagnostic & repair strategies that actually
work, and includes tips and tricks developed in shops across
the nation. Come for some great shortcuts & homemade tools
to quickly isolate faults that can take hours more to find
using conventional diagnostics.
*Salt Lake City, UT: August 2nd & 3rd This class runs
from 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. both nights.
DIRECT INJECTION & AIR INDUCTION SYSTEMS
DIAGNOSTICS: This all-new training seminar is the
third in our popular Import series. Gasoline Direct
Injection (GDI) is simple in design but difficult to
diagnose because the traditional shortcuts of swapping out
parts and disassembling for inspection are not practical.
This is why we have adapted ATG's 'High Level Indicator'
approach for ruling out possible causes before parts come
off. The same approach applies to induction system
diagnostics where repair information is vague, component
access is difficult, and feedback loops are not always
available. For all systems covered, the approach is first
universal, and becomes manufacturer-specific only after the
possible cause and tool/test lists have been completed and
trimmed down. This seminar and manual were built by
analyzing actual diagnostic struggles and documenting the
shortest diagnostic paths for these systems. Because of this
practical approach, you won't be buried in useless
engineering detail -- only useful facts that you can measure
and that will help guide your diagnostic path. This seminar
continues the ATG tradition of saving you diagnostic time.
We're in the 'wasted test prevention' business, and we hope
you can attend!
*Virginia Beach, VA: August 2nd & 3rd
*Falls Church, VA: July 31st & August 1st
*Metairie, LA: July 26th & 27th
*Baton Rouge, LA: July 24th & 25th
CHRYSLER DRIVABILITY & CODE DIAGNOSTICS:
This all-new Chrysler training seminar is the latest
installment in our Engine Performance series, and continues
the evolution of our products from a systems-based layout to
a diagnostics-based layout. Because of the new format,
today's more complex symptoms and codes become easier to
understand in the classroom and far easier to diagnose back
in the shop. This approach applies to new and legacy engine
management systems, so it will change the way you approach
any Chrysler vehicle. This seminar and manual were built by
analyzing actual diagnostic struggles and documenting the
shortest diagnostic paths for engine management and
emissions systems. Chrysler, Dodge, Jeep & Fiat applications
have a tremendous number of no-starts, stalling complaints,
misfiring, and trouble codes that really mean something
else. This seminar focuses on the best practices to give you
victory over these faults, so it's a great investment in
your career.
*Madison, WI: July 26th & 27th This class runs from 6
p.m. to 9:30 p.m. both nights.
*Green Bay, WI: July 24th & 25th
*Atlanta, GA: July 19th & 20th
*Marietta, GA: July 17th & 18th
*Ventura, CA: July 17th & 18th
*Denver, CO: July 12th & 13th
*Irvine, CA: July 12th & 13th
*Fort Collins, CO: July 10th & 11th
*Salisbury, MD: July 10th & 11th
*Monrovia, CA: July 10th & 11th
DURAMAX LML & LGH DIESEL ENGINE & EMISSIONS
DIAGNOSTICS: Diesel engines are very simple -- just
compress some air and fuel and you get combustion. However,
with the advent of common rail fuel pressurization and
delivery systems, diagnosis and repair became a complicated
and time-consuming game. Add variable vane turbochargers,
feedback EGR systems, and exhaust aftertreatment systems
like Diesel Particulate Filters, Selective Catalyst
Reduction, and Diesel Exhaust Fluid injection, and it's hard
to know where to start. Other published Duramax repair
information is inconsistent, and many of the flow charts run
you in circles performing tests that would actually take
days to complete. In contrast, our approach looks for
high-level indicators to make a better possible-cause list
and then offers multiple simple tests to trim that list as
quickly as possible without taking too much apart. Duramax
coverage includes special tools, workarounds, unused Scan
Tool functions, and other great shortcuts for ruling out
time-consuming tests. From a simple high-level pass to
system-specific tips, this seminar covers the entire
diagnostic process. We have included dozens of real world
examples to prove that these strategies will find the root
cause of your code or symptom in the shortest amount of
time.
*Amherst, NY: July 26th & 27th
*Rochester, NY: July 24th & 25th
*Lubbock, TX: July 19th & 20th
*Burbank, CA: July 19th & 20th
*Akron, OH: July 12th & 13th
*Independence, OH: July 10th & 11th
CUMMINS COMMON RAIL DIESEL & DURAMAX LML/LGH
DIESEL: Diesel engines are very simple -- just
compress some air and fuel and you get combustion. But with
the advent of common rail fuel pressurization and delivery
symptoms, diagnosis and repair became a complicated and
time-consuming game. Add variable vane turbochargers,
feedback EGR systems, and exhaust aftertreatment systems
like Diesel Particulate Filters, Selective Catalyst
Reduction, and Diesel Exhaust Fluid injection, and it's hard
to know where to start. Other published Cummins and Duramax
repair information is inconsistent, and many of the flow
charts run you in circles performing tests that would take
days. In contrast, our approach looks for high-level
indicators to make a better possible-cause list, and then
offers multiple simple tests to trim that list as fast as
possible without taking too much apart. Cummins and Duramax
are each comprehensively covered in separate sections,
including special tools, workarounds, unused Scan Tool
functions, and other great shortcuts. From a simple
high-level pass to system-specific tips, this seminar covers
the entire diagnostic process. We have included dozens of
real world examples to prove that these strategies will find
the root cause of your code or symptom in the shortest
amount of time.
*Amarillo, TX: July 17th & 18th
*Topeka, KS: July 12th & 13th
*Tulsa, OK: July 10th & 11th
ADVANCED CIRCUIT & ELECTRICAL TESTING: This
class is about using wiring diagrams as part of a larger
strategy to increase testing accuracy and decrease testing
time (and even the number of tests performed). We're
combining wiring information with codes, symptoms, system
interactions, Scan Tool PIDs & controls, and other
observations.
*Huntsville, AL: July 10th & 11th
ADVANCED DRIVABILITY DIAGNOSTICS
STRATEGIES: This seminar builds on the success of
our Intermittent Electrical seminar, bringing practical and
real-world tests to quickly isolate to a root cause for
drivability and trouble code faults. Traditional diagnostics
tell us to 'check the basics', but that means hours of
compression, vacuum, fuel pressure/volume and other
time-consuming tests. So we've developed top-down tests for
engine mechanical and engine management that help you drill
down along the most effective diagnostic path. We'll show
you the latest 'geeky' tools like transducers and processed
Scan Tool functions, but we'll also include great ways to
get results using the Scan Tools and traditional test
equipment you already own. Come to this class and let us
show you these proven techniques for trimming your
diagnostic path.
