Powerstroke Diesel training now available in Las Vegas!
Come and learn the newest information that we have gathered
in dealing with new and existing Powerstroke engines.
Instruction includes diagnostic information on the 7.3L, the
6.0L and the 6.4L and the 6.7L
This three day event will be taught by Tony Salas, owner of
Powertrain Performance, who works on these Ford products on
a daily basis.
This three day event will start on Friday afternoon. The
event will kick off with a roundtable discussion of
technicians bringing their take on day to day dealings with
these vehicles. Tony will introduce service information
available using Ford Installer Support,
Motorcraftservice.com, Alldata and Prodemand. Introduction
of the IDS scan tool and the use of other scan tools plus
aftermarket scan tools are used in this course. Powerstroke
6.7L will be introduced. The subsystems that will be taught
are: a.Piezo common rail fuel injection system, the
components, the differences between the low pressure, the
high pressure side and the return systems. b.Turbocharger
used, variable vane style, variances between the wastegate
equipped models and the non-equipped models.
c.Aftertreatment System which varies between the cab chassis
models and the Super-Duty models. Discussion will cover the
use of Reductant (DEF Fluid). Common issues will be covered
such as reductant injector clogging and sending unit level
sensor issues and other common complaints. d.Engine design
and variances from older models will be shown and
instructed.
Day Two will start with the most common of the Powerstroke
engines which is the 6.0L. This day long course will cover
the following systems and issues.
a.Introduction to the 6.0 engine. The engine design and
assembly. b.High Pressure oil system components and issues.
c.Fuel injection system, the G2 injector issues from
stiction to nozzle to KOEO injector self test. d.The wiring,
the charging system and the FICM. The issues and some
opinions with FICM, programming and procedures to be
followed. e.The wiring, the body, transmission and the
engine connector. The PIDS and the sensor issues. f.Common
issues g.THE DIAGNOSTIC APPROACH! Covering all you can when
diagnosing numerous driveability issues.
Day three winds up with the Powerstroke 6.4L. This engine
introduced the aftertreatment system in the Powerstroke
families. This has been a topic of discussion among
technicians with the temptation of adding a DPF delete kit
but a choice which is not always available since emission
laws in certain states and counties prohibit any emission
tampering. Technicians need to address the issues and causes
of premature engine failure which can be caused by oil
dilution. The term regeneration will be defined and
instructed. In this portion of the course, instruction will
be on:
a.Introduction to the 6.4L, engine design, subsystems and
repair b.The common rail piezoelectric fuel injection
system. The components, the operation and common diagnostic
techniques. c.Low pressure fuel system, testing and how it
is plumbed with the return system. d.Use of Diagnostic
information already available. e.Aftertreatment system,
explanation of the diesel oxidation catalyst (DOC) and the
Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF). f.Regeneration defined and
explained. Common issues and diagnostic approach to ensure
an accurate diagnosis. g.EGR system. The common issues and
techniques to use when removing coolers and the egr itself.
Review diagnostic tests to test the EGR valve.
All instruction will focus on information needed to aid you
in diagnosing these trucks. Our goal is to instruct
technicians with techniques and skills needed to repair
these engines. There are many technicians who become
frustrated with the lack of information and procedures when
dealing with these trucks. Tony teaches you the ability to
become competent and knowledgeable to make you more
efficient and profitable!
**Training will include hands-on demonstrations on engines
and on Vehicles! **
