53- late 60's chevys had a 3 speed syncromesh trans with overdirve units, they were either manual overdrive or electric overdrive, 53-54 electric overdrives were 6 volt, 55 and later were 12 volt. Your best bet would be to try and find one of the manual units ... Login to read more.
