The car had a 427/481 ford fuel injected on alky 15.5/1 compression

The high compression make it cranky. Did not like temp above 180,spark above 30 deg, or close bearing clearances (anything below .007 rods or .005 on the mains and no babbit on the bearings)... Login to read more.
