I've noticed that when AFR's go bad, the REALLY go bad. 4-5% CO not that unusual. But maybe a rich mixture, with no oxygen in the stream is not the worst thing for a cat. It can't overheat if there is no oxygen. Of course the sensor is setting a code at this ... Login to read more.
