I might be one of the hacks you are refering to doing "custom work". Unless it has a special bend, many times I have used fuel line from Napa. It does come in 1/2, 5/8, and 3/4" sizes. If I need to to have a special bend, many times I use Napa's plastic heater... Login to read more.
