Problem is with 318 BMW's with adjustable timing. AllData says the timing mark is a ball bearing embeded in the flywheel. You look for this with a timing light through a small hole in the flywheel housing at the specified RPM, usually 2400 but sometimes 4000. ... Login to read more.
