ASE Transition to Paperless L1 and L2 Testing in 2024
Posted to Industry Issues Forum on 12/14/2023 4 Replies

Beginning in January 2024, the Composite Vehicle documents for the Automobile Advanced Engine Performance Specialist (L1) and Medium/Heavy Truck Electronic Diesel Engine Diagnosis Specialist (L2) tests will move to a paperless format. These documents will now be included in the test delivery platform. The paper versions of the L1 Composite Vehicle (blue) and L2 Composite Vehicle (gray) will no longer be available during testing.

Currently, the Light Duty Hybrid/Electric Vehicle Specialist (L3) with Certification Test Reference and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) Specialist (L4) with Composite Vehicle feature electronic PDFs. With the changes in January, the Certification Test Reference and Composite Vehicle documents for all ASE Advanced Level tests will be available during testing in electronic PDF only.

To assist with test preparation, electronic versions of the Official ASE Study Guides, ASE Test Information Documents, and the ASE Composite Vehicle Documents can be downloaded here: https://www.ase.com/ase-study-guides.

This change will allow test takers to use Prometric's ProProctor test delivery platform as an option during recertification. ProProctor, a proctoring solution that allows technicians to take recertification tests remotely, requires that no books or papers be present during testing. More details are available here: www.ase.com/proproctor.
