Dealers eliminating wholesale parts departments
There is a dealer group in the San Francisco area that has eliminated selling wholesale with parts delivery. They are a multi line dealer group with GM, Volvo, Chrysler/Jeep, Subaru, Mazda & Toyota. One of the reasons behind it? Too many RETURNS, it seems GM charges them 40% on return merchandise. I think there is more to it. If the independent repair shops can't get parts then who cares about right to repair? Now I can drive to the dealer to pick up, or use a courier. But that just adds to my expenses so I will have to charge more. Anyone else running into this? Or is it just some a-hole general manager who came up with a way to cut his payroll expenses? A bunch of long time parts people have lost their jobs due to this.
