2014 Infiniti QX60 Transfer Case Over Filled?

Have an Infiniti here and the owner complained of a leak on their garage floor. When checked we didn't find anything leaking at the moment but did find the transfer case way overfilled. We suspect the fluid is coming from there.

My question is, is the CVT on this model capable or common to leak into the transfer case? It seems like it could, but I haven't found anything common about this issue on this model. Have seen it happen a number of times on GM's and Jeeps with normal AT's, though.

If that is what is occurring, what is typically involved in repairing / replacing the seal between the transfer case and trans?
