If you hear it in 3rd, it is not planetary noise. Unlikely in the transmission then, but could be a thrust bearing? What about the t-case? Have you put it up on a hoist with a stethoscope or better yet, chassis ears on a road test? That would be helpful IMO. Login to read more.
