No codes is kind of weird. 3rd gear is limp-in on that unit - if it actually was in limp mode there would be codes. If you can duplicate it, might monitor range switch and solenoids to see if it's commanding 3rd. Have seen that on some Fords (similar) and not ... Login to read more.
