I just did one of these that had a noise from the rear of the TFC. It had a bad ball bearing on the output shaft. 98 Suburban K15. Yes the front shaft turns in 2X4 normally. Lemme know if you need more info. Pt#s etc. Not a difficult job except for a snap ring... Login to read more.
