Using a thermal image to locate burnt out cluster lights
Posted to Technical Tips Forum on 1/2/2018 4 Replies

Working on a fleet vehicle in the bright sunlight. Driver indicated some of the instrument cluster illumination lights were burnt out, but he couldn't remember which ones. Used FLIR "One" attached to iPhone5 to capture a quick image. This image is 1/2 of the cluster/circuit board. In the top right hand corner of the image we see one of the 3 bulbs that failed. I have not included the other image with the other 2, failed bulbs, but this image shows another use for a thermal image camera. The reason we used the thermal image camera is we were working outside in the bright sunlight (due to the size of the truck and our smaller bay size). Hope this gives others another idea for use of their thermal imager. [Detecting burnt out cluster lights while outside in sunlight]
