On many drum brakes. I install one shoe, then clamp a pair of vise grips on the backing plate to stop the shoe from overextending the wheel cylinder. It's pretty useful in Asian vehicles where the spring runs across the 2 shoes. I had a habit of pushing on it ... Login to read more. ![]()
