Intermittent ABS Sensor Signal Loss
I have a 2000 Explorer that gets about 4,000 miles a year.
For about 1 year my right front abs sensor would
occasionally loose the signal at low speeds and cause ABS
activation. Ohm readings and scope showed normal operation.
No trouble codes were set. Yesterday my right front wheel
bearing/hub assembly started making noise. I believe that
loose bearing material may have accumulated on or near the
tip of the sensor and/or bearing play may have been an
issue. NOTE: I give the vehicle an annual inspection with
LOF and there was not any noticeable looseness in the hub.
