I've had mid-late 90's V6 Ranger/Explorer do the same thing. If I recall, the Gates or Goodyear part numbers were always correct in the book. Kind of like the alt belt on Nissan pick-up/ Pathfinder V6, always too long, out at the end of the adjustment. Login to read more.
