Hi guys can someone tell me why G.M. uses a 7x signal from the crank sensor on 4 cly. and 24x signal on a 8 cly

(2.2l) (4.0l) They start out as a/c waves which the ICU turnes into a digital signal.

Why does the 4.0l need two crank sensors anyway.
