Yes, the resistor increases the heat load by about 10%. A 70 ohm relay coil will draw roughly 190 mA and the 680 ohm resistor roughly 19 mA. Many relays are continuously powered. It is enlightening to use a thermal camera on a fuse box on an operating vehicle.... Login to read more.
