Secondary waveform question on a distributor ignition system
Posted to Technical Theory Forum on 3/3/2016 41 Replies

H [Primary waveform on a DI system] Hello all. I have recently taken an interest with scoping ignition waveforms. I understand this is not easy or intuitive. So I assure you I am doing my homework before I ask a question. So here goes on a distributor type ignition system there are 2 authorized air gaps. The rotor and the plug. When viewing a secondary waveform at the plug. I find it unclear to spot where the rotor spark line is. I know there has to be something because we have current flow. Is there a picture illustrating the point by point flow of the waveform. I mainly scope the forklifts at work. They use a 4.3 l Gm that uses LPG for fuel. Not sure if that changes anything.
