Joe, I must be working on some strange alternators indeed. 99% of the diodes are shorted when they fail???? This I DO NOT BELIEVE. A very common alternator failure is caused by EXCESSIVE brush wear which destroys the slip ring. Ask me how I know this? Louie Login to read more.
