Everybody's quoting Mythbusters... I'll tell you my experience. In town doesn't matter, on the highway, leave the tailgate UP. Putting it down (or removing it) cost me 2.2mpg on a 96 Nissan pickup (averaged about 15). 2.0mpg on a 1995 F150 (averaged about 18),... Login to read more. ![]()
