Re: Coil on plug ignition diode
I think Albin is correct, it is for cicuit protection just like an a/c coil or some relays. Any time a winding is fired it induces a voltage and the diode is there to clamp this energy. As for why only some, I think it goes back to pcm design. Login to read more. ![]()
