Re: How much loading can a VREF circuit tolerate?
The 7805 is overload protected. It limits the current to 1A. However, at 1A, if the input voltage is 14V, you will cook off 9W. Without a heat sink the 7805 will fail, overload protected or not. Of course, a modern PCM is not going to use a linear VR. Login to read more. ![]()
