Your house is wired with 2-phase power. Put a meter across the two "hot" phases, and you'll measure 220V AC or thereabouts. That's BECAUSE the phases are out of synch with each other -- one is at +110V while the other is at -110V. 220 is what your range and el... Login to read more.
