I think it is a matter of volume. While a gas engine may recirculate about 5% of the exhaust at maximum EGR flow a diesel will recirculate about 35%. That kind of volume is tough on the intake manifold. And that much exhaust (hot) kind of negates the benifits... Login to read more.
