If you hooked up a scope to monitor both vss wires(I'm assuming it's a 2 wire variable reluctance AC sign wave signal), I think you would have lost the sign wave on the shorted wire. I did not look at a wiring diagram so you would have to verify my assumptions... Login to read more.
