Re: on direct injection (gasoline), this has to exist already?
It works off the exhaust valve. Basically it lets the engine do the pumping work and then dumps the compressed air at or just before tdc so it can't impart any energy back on the crank. I haven't worked on any of these newer systems with common rail injection ... Login to read more. ![]()
