The GM VDRs show up on ebay a lot lately. This no doubt due to the fact that the older VDRs don't do CAN. The newer VDR+CAN does all the 1996 vehicles and CAN.

Make sure if you get one to get VDR+CAN. The graphing is nice but the tool has the same short comm... Login to read more.
