Jacques, I can only answer for GMs reason why the one way clutch is used in some of the applications. It is from a belt squeek at a high rpm upshift (Usually the 1-2 upshift). The engine speed drops and the inertia from teh alt rotor will not slow down as fast... Login to read more.
