The OBD-II J1962 socket must supply a minimum of 4.0 Amps at 12V or 2.0 Amps at 24V. The OBD-II Scan Tool can draw no more than the minimum current specified, that is 4.0 amps at 12 volts or 2.0 amps at 24 volts.
