I drove a 55 Chevy without a battery in it from Atlanta to Chattanooga in 1960 (120 miles). I had to keep the RPMs above 2500. The ign points and the contacts in the voltage regulator were burned badly. I was smart enough not to turn the radio on. Login to read more.
