Interesting thread.

Let's get some points clear, here:

A silicon diode (the normal type) has 0.6V forward voltage drop - and pretty much infinite the other way. (Blocks current when reverse biased)

A Schottky diode has only 0.2V in the forward direction ... Login to read more.
