Seen this on our Ford 6 cylinders. The gaskets were polished smooth from the expansion and contraction of the cylinder head, "wearing" away the sealant on the gasket.

I always fit new bolts (even though they aren't torque to yield) and retighten at 5000 km. ... Login to read more.
