Hey folks, was wondering if anyone still reading this forum
that's kinda retiring but need something to do outside of
the automotive industry? I've been doing this since the 70's
and am burnt out, among other things.
Had a pretty successful business doing mobile work for body
shops - calibrations, programming, computer and electrical
diag and stuff. Used to do quite a bit of mechanical work
but some back problems killed that program so I went to
strictly electronics a few years ago. Was planning on
expanding in late '22 and then had a heart attack the day
after Christmas. Kinda changed my game plan.
Long story short, I'm back in good health at the ripe young
age of 67 and have scaled back my business considerably.
Don't want to go much into debt for equipment upgrades and
stuff at this point (which I'll need just to keep up with
the industry). Anybody find a 2nd career that's part time
(HAHA) and enjoyable? I have a ton of technical knowledge,
management, sales - you name it I've probably done it (for
decades!) and would like to be able to use it. The job
search engines (Indeed, ZipRecrutier, etc.) seem to be
pretty much a joke or I'm too stupid/lost my mind to
navigate them.(correct answer is B)
I can go to work tomorrow at my choice of shops if I want to
go back to full time. They say 40 hr workweek but that
always seem to turn out closer to or over 50,whether it's
writing service, parts, just about anything. Can't do that
grind anymore.. The wheels on by toolboxes are LOCKED -
they're not going anywhere. Anyone have any success or
suggestions at something else? Grubhub? Hardware store?
Tanning salon? Amateur comedian? So many decisions, so
little time! TIA folks.
