i was at the space camp in fla years ago about 87 or 88. they had a tile and did a demo on it. he put a torch to it, it glowed red, then he touched, the tile was cool. i guess on reentry it get so hot. anyway it was neat show. ohh those tiles are made of silic... Login to read more.
