View from front of axle/gearcase assembly. Driveshaft, driveshaft tube and flange is standing upright at right.
On either side of the gearcase at center you can see the pairs of levers. One lever of each pair twists a shaft to operate a cam to force the shoes apart. The other lever of each pair twists a hollow tube to operate the mechanism to contract a band.
