The aftermarket mass air sensor was at fault. I repaired several small vacuum leaks, but in the end an OE Mercedes mass air flow did the trick. I did scope the aftermarket unit and the frequency was in range. Thanks to another local shop that specializes in MB... Trouble codes: P1570.
