Thanks to all who replied to this request. I did not get the Jeep running better. I tried a new crank sensor and tried a used PCM. It acted the same way with both. Maybe it will get worse and we'll be able to identify the problem. Thanks, Randy.

thanks for all responses, i unplugged the crank sensor wire and had comm with scanner.had no codes, replaced crank sensor and it started. many thanks. ricardo
