Thank you for all the replies, as it turns out the maf had an intermittant fault as most of you had replied. I could actually see it fall on it's face with the scan tool. Thanks again. Trouble codes: P0100 (maf sensor circuit malfunction).

Vehicle has been gone for 4 days. I found the connection at the ecm was intermittently bad. Wiggle test did not change anything. I took apart the connector, cleaned and resoldered the terminal. Vehicle was fine after that.
